    B*ll*cks…

Chased up my snow/ice tire order. The retailers say no way jose. Not until AFTER xmas. what good will winter tires be if I can only start to use them halfway through winter.

So I just put in some hardcode google translate work and ordered another set from a place in Germany that *I think* has them in stock. I shall be extremely pissed off if I end up on public transport this month if only for losing out on the extra cardio it affords me without taking time out of my day.

As it’s T*mblr T*esday my least favourite day on this wretched site and ultimately the number of followers you have means nothing I’ll give my recommendation to the best suggestion for how to keep myself warm this evening following a 6 mile ride in the snow followed by an hour of running… also in the snow and then returning to my apartment with no heat or hot water. (edit: nor my GF who I don’t see til’ friday)

    Snow has arrived in London

My snow/ice tires however have not. FML.

Still I MTFU and rode in today, sh*t I figured it can’t be much colder outside than it is inside my flat right now with no heating and the snow is fresh so not much chance of ice.

Glad I did it too, I arrived in the office like some kind of snow covered superhero out braving the elements, while everyone else struggled with the tube/trains/buses.

And I was one of a handful of people who actually got in ON TIME!

I AM going running with the tritons tonight as well. I fully expect to fall over whilst running. I only walked 20 yards this morning from the office to the coffee shop and I nearly slipped twice on like 1cm of snow slush (take note kids: air force ones are NOT good snow shoes… hopefully my Triax+ running shoes will fare better).

Scales are showing I’m back under tomorrows goal weight again this morning, unless the gods of water retention are in a spiteful mood all is looking good for a decent WiW tomorrow.

Be careful out there people, But remember to be awesome while doing so.

    Argh!

my boilers decided to bust just as the temperatures start dropping below freezing.

I now have NO heat and NO hot water.

My landlord is getting it sorted tomorrow hopefully but I’m sitting here fully wrapped up and I’m fah-reezing.

Oh well, being cold burns more calories though right?

    Recovery week is over!

and I’m feeling fully rested and ready to get back on it… time to bring the pain!

In other news I briefly dipped one-quarter pound under my target weight for dec 1st on Saturday (195.75lbs) and promptly bounced back up one and three quarter pounds (197.5lbs) yesterday/today.

Gonna be extra careful with my diet today/tomorrow and hopefully I’ll drop back down by WiW.

Back from the Greenwich Tritons AGM

Tonight was the annual meeting of the Tritons to go over the yearly budget, vote on the committee for next year and discuss plans for next years events/training. then into the bar for a social get-together but more importantly we could pick up some team kit.

I’m now the proud owner of two tritons cycling jerseys (one short, one long sleeve) and man do I look the part.

I kinda wish the weekend was over so I can wear it to ride to work.

In other news I just got my British Triathlon Federation number through so hopefully I’ll be signing up for my first event in the coming week to take place in june next year, you’ll hear more on that when it’s booked ;)

    1lb loss

it’s probably a little more than that in fact as I round down to the nearest lb and I was 200.75 last wednesday and today I was dead on 199 so I was very close to my 2lb target.

which means I’m going to continue doing what I’m doing and the plan for the next seven days is

    Today - Rest Day

Thursday - Commute by bike (12 miles total)

Friday - Commute by bike (12 miles total)

Saturday - Easy run (3.1 miles total)

Sunday - Long run (12 miles total)

Monday - Commute by bike (12 miles total)

Tuesday - Commute by bike (12 miles total) Training Run (6 miles total)

I won’t be under 196lbs by next weds now as 3lbs is too much to expect but hopefully I’ll be there by the following week.

My end of year goal will be 194lbs by Christmas if I can but there’s only so much I can do about, the rest is up to my body I guess.

    New distance record!

Just finished my first long sunday run with the Tritons and managed a new distance record.

I ran  11.42 miles but I’m not sure of the pacing as I had to manually adjust for the 0.75 mile I ran with my gps paused (whoops). but I was somewhere between 9:00/mile and 10:00/mile which isn’t bad.

The run leader was an absolute sadist and despite my protestations at having only ran 15k once before I was put in the lead group where he was the pace-maker. So yeah I spent at least 4.5miles chasing the guy who does ironmans up and down some insane hills in thick woodland with rivers of mud. by the end of the hill section I was running like a cheerleader in a slasher flick when they’re trying to escape the killer, double over, panting heavily, barely able to put one leg in front of the other but I kept going.

oddly enough I totally forgot to use the whole MTFU thing to spur myself on, this whole run was one big MTFU session in itself so I didn’t really have anywhere to go from there.

Today is going to be a big eating day though I think as it’s midday and so far I’ve had two oat-bars, a bottle of energy drink, a hot chocolate (group recovery was at the cafe in greenwich park), a 600kcal portion of lasagne, 45g of peanut m&m’s and my stomach is literally rumbling right now.

I also refuse to get off this sofa now unless it’s absolutely necessary such as to get food, the disposal of the byproducts of food consumption or the apartment spontaneously combusting into flame.

    Guess what happened…

    Yup another race, another PB.

as I said in my last post this was the monthly 5k Time Trial with the Greenwich Tritons.

    and my finish time?

22:28 - TWENTY TWO MINUTES EFFING TWENTY EIGHT SECONDS!

this is 1:16 faster than when I ran the exact same route 3 weeks ago.

it also puts my average pace at 4:29/km and guess what? I didn’t puke! I was sucking down air in gulps and sounded like a wounded seal though.

    19 Nov 2010

    No cycling today

When I woke up I could tell straight away there was no chance I’d be able to commute by bike today if I wanted to run my 5k time trial with the Tritons tonight so I opted to go with the train to work and try to put in a decent attempt for the 5k instead of struggling in on the bike and then posting up a rubbish time in my run.

Whether I’ll beat my previous time (23:44) I’m not sure. I’ll be happy with anything sub 25:00 but I’d be extremely happy if I could get under 24:00 again, to beat 23:00 would probably make me puke but I might be able to manage it if I tried my damnedest but that would mean I’m looking at a sub 4:35 km pace. Guess I’ll see what happens…

    Gained a lb

But I’ll take it as this weekend I overindulged majorly due to feeling like crap because of my cold and also as I was less harsh about my food choices as I ran a 10k PB on a much tougher course.

I said I was having a rest day today but I’m sitting here in my cycling shorts just getting ready to ride to work. Big dose of MTFU needed as I only got 5.5 hours sleep and am a little tired tbh but I can’t face public transport so the bike it is.

    fitness-itsalifestyle:

So the Movember 10K on behalf of Prostate Cancer was Saturday!

Had been a bit wary of the race as a result of my 2 weeks of solid ‘not caring’ which only gave me a week to prepare!

I got a run in on Tuesday that week just to give the legs a reminder as to what running actually felt like, but due to over doing it in the gym on Weds, I couldn’t do another on Thursday as planned! Didn’t think running the day before the race was a particularly good idea either, so I just took it easy on Friday other than my TKD class! Not the greatest prep! :/

Despite the said lack of preparation I still wanted to get out there and give a good account of myself, so I kept my sub 60min 10K fitness goal in sight and set out with the intention of beating it!

The race itself was a tough one! As for as 10K’s go, I fully doubt ill be coming across another that has more hills! Honestly, they did their best to level out the course but the majority of the last 3K was uphill! Granted some of that only fractionally but 2 main stretches were severe! See the picture of the finishing hill included!

Got my official time from the race chip timings on their website and I clocked in at 01:04:04.

This was only 3 minutes shy of my PB but without the hills im pretty confident I would have beat that time so I am chuffed with the result.

It’s getting to the point in the year now where all the events start winding down so i’m not sure if i’ll be getting another race in before years end, but I need to use this time to get my head down and work on my fitness some more before the new year as 2011 will be the year quite a few challenges get conquered!

All in all it was an amazing experience and I was very pleased to have notched up my second finish! Now on to the next one! :)

Was an awesome race, good to see you again fella. You’ll be under 60 minutes next time round I’m sure. when you get a chance email me the full size pics if you can, the event photography was an epic fail yet again. guess I don’t do good action shots.

    So

At first I was all like…

    Then I was like…

First time I’ve cycled to work and back AND run with the tritons where we did HILL SPRINTS (again) and GODDAMN was it tough, by the end of the warmup it felt like I had no energy left in my legs at all but I persevered and stuck it out and all in all it was a pretty good introductory brick session and I figure if I’m going to do a sprint triathlon next year I’ll need to cycle and run anyways so why no start now.

I think I may be due a rest day tomorrow after todays exertions but i’ll get my bike gear ready just in case I change my mind.

time for dinner and a well earned rest.
